Sluggers Named to Play in 2005 All Star Game

Eastfield College baseball players have been named to play
in the Texas/New Mexico Junior College Baseball Coaches
Association All Star Game to be held at Baylor University
in Waco, Texas, September 30 - October 1.

The sophomore players were nominated by Eastfield coaches
and then selected by a review committee after seeing each
player’s previous year’s statistics. The best
three players at each position were chosen and will include
outfielder Clifton Sheffield, from Arlington, Texas, and
infielders Ryan Weber, of Cypress, Texas, and Ronny Hawley,
of Garland, Texas. Josh Wooten, of Fort Worth, Texas, was
one of 12 pitchers chosen out of more than 35 nominees.
Eastfield College has sent players to the All Star Game
consecutively since 1995.

Eastfield College baseball players
Clifton Sheffield (outfielder) of Arlington and Steven Hill
(catcher) of Houston were recently named to the National
Junior College Athletic Association All-American First Team.
Pitcher Enrique Lozano, a sophomore from Garland, was named
to the All-American Second Team.
Several Eastfield Players were also named to the Metro Athletic
Conference All-Conference Academic Team: Enrique Lozano,
Ryan Weber of Houston (infielder), Clint May of Houston
(pitcher), Josh Wooten of Fort Worth (pitcher), Kellen Wise
of Denver, Colorado (outfielder), and Ben Montgomery of
McKinney (infielder).
The Harvesters Baseball Team finished out the season with
a 43-16 record and were the M.A.C. regular season champions.

Congratulations to the Harvesters Baseball team! They won
all three of their games this weekend against North Lake,
becoming the 2005 Metro Athletic Conference Regular Season
Champions!!!
Harvesters OVERALL RECORD 40-14, CONFERENCE RECORD 24-6
The District 15 Tournament (which will determine who goes
to the Junior College World Series) will be held at Eastfield
May 13-15.

Tryout
Date Set for Friday June 3, 2005 |
We have selected Friday, June 3, 2005
as the date for our annual open tryout to be held at Harvester
Field on the campus of Eastfield College.
The details are as follows:
Eastfield College Baseball Coaching Staff will be on hand
to evaluate players' skills in the following areas: running,
throwing, hitting, pitching, and defensive play.
Pitchers and Catchers are asked to be ready for a 9:00 a.m.
start, and all position players are asked to be ready for
a 1:00 p.m. start.
Any changes will be posted on our website at www.eastfieldcollege.edu/baseball,
