2005-2006 Team Captain Demarco
Latham who will be attending University of Central Oklahoma on a
full basketball scholarship has received his AA Degree from Eastfield
College. The Basketball staff would like to thank and praise Demarco
Latham for all of his hard work and accomplishments on and off of
the basketball court. |

Basketball Captain Greg Boxell To Play For Team USA In Global Games

21, 2006)
Greg Boxell, is playing for the USA Global Games team this week.
He had two points in the 91-58 opening win against Puerto Rico on
Monday. Boxell started and grabbed 11 rebounds in the second game
versus Canada. Canada upset Team USA 68-66. Team USA will face Africa
on Wednesday and Russia on Friday. Saturday will be for Medal Play.
Boxell, a 6-5 forward player from Eastfield College recorded solid
numbers his Freshman season. He average 7 points, 8 rebounds, 1.4
steals and 1.1 assists per game. Boxell prepped at JJ Pearce High
in Richardson, Texas were he holds the school record for block shots
in a game, season and career. View

Christian University signs Cortnie Ross of Eastfield College...view

| Ross,
a high school teammate of current ACU Wildcat Norman Alexander at
Dallas Kimball High School, is transferring to ACU from Eastfield
College. The 6-3, 180-pound wing averaged 18 points, 3.7 rebounds,
2.0 steals and 1.8 assists per game last year on his way to earning
first team all-Metro Conference honors.
Ross is the younger brother of former SMU standout
Quinton Ross, who has started 42 games for the Los Angeles Clippers
in the NBA this season.
"Cortnie is a real high-energy guy who will
get our team going," Coach Copeland said. "He can knock
down an open jumper, and he can put the ball on the floor and get
to the basket. He'll be a really good player in the Lone Star Conference
for two seasons."
University of Central Oklahoma Men's Basketball Signs Recruits...
Set to join the Bronchos next year will be Chance Hardaker of Edmond
Santa Fe High School, Demarco Latham of Eastfield
(Texas) Community College and John Neal of Northeastern Oklahoma
A&M and Jason Arbet.....
Latham, a 5-10 guard from Mansfield, Texas, was a juco Academic
All-American at Eastfield this past season. He averaged 13.8 points,
4.1 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 2.9 steals a game in 2005-06.
"Demarco is a very smart floor leader who
has the ability to defend, pass and score," Evans said. "He's
an exciting player who will be able to help us in a lot of ways."
Arbet, a 6-9, 235-pound forward from Naaman Forest
High School in Garland, Texas, is red shirting this season at Eastfield
College after spending the previous two years at Division I Texas
Southern University. He averaged 4.5 points and 3.5 rebounds a game
there in 2004-05 and will have two years eligibility left at UCO.

Eastfield Harvesters Sign Basketball Scholarships for 2006-2007

Demarco Latham has signed to play his Junior and
Senior year at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Oklahoma.
Latham is a team captain and he also carries a 3.6 GPA. Latham will
be going to the top 25 University following this season. Latham
is averaging 17 points per game, four assist a game, and four steals
a game. Also, Redshirt Jason Arbet has signed to
finish up his college career on full scholarship at the University
of Central Oklahoma as well. Arbet has used his two years of eligibility
at the Division I level and has not
been able to compete for the College, but he is excited about the
chance to play for a Nationally Recognized University such as UCO.

Eastfield
wins 1st game of season... |
The Eastfield
Basketball team defeated Texas Wesleyan University JV team on Tuesday
114-62. Eastfield was led by Matt Griffin who had
25 points. Demarco Latham and Brian Giddings
each had 19 points, Cortnie Ross added 17 points
and Greg Boxell chipped in 10 points. All five
starters scored in double digits.
The Harvesters travel to Kilgore, Texas, today to face Kilgore College
who is Ranked 17 in the National Poll for Division I Junior Colleges.
The game begins at 7:30PM. Then Saturday the Harvesters will face
Division I Jacksonville College at Kilgore at 5:30pm. On Monday
Eastfield will host Lon Morris College who is ranked 26 in the nation
in division I junior college basketball. The game will start at
7pm. Come out and support the Harvester basketball team.

Basketball Players Makes Guest Appearance
in 3 on 3 Hoop-It-Up |
 Several
Eastfield basketball players made a guest appearance at the Central
Mesquite Assembly of God 3 on 3 Hoop-It-Up that was hosted by Eastfield
College on May 6th.
The players played a three on three game with themselves in front
of all the Hoop-It-Up teams and then played four on four with the
winner of the tournament. |

Two of Eastfield College's newest basketball players, Greg
Morgan and Kirsten Banks, and Head
Coach Anthony Fletcher took time out of their busy schedules
recently to visit Mackey Elementary School (MISD)
fifth graders. The two players talked to Ms. Barnes' students about
playing college basketball and read them a few stories, before taking
questions and even signing a few autographs. For more information,
