Welcome and Introductions
The Construction Team council convened on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at 9:00a.m. Dr. Lindle Grigsby welcomed the members.
Learning Studios
Dustin Moore with Roger-Obrien reported they are in the process of finishing the sky bridge and expect to have the second level deck poured by Tuesday, 5/13/08. The water line connection and/or tie ends is scheduled for Saturday, 5/10/08. They anticipate the exterior framing and masonry will begin the week of May 12, 2008.
The walkway connection near the ‘N’ and ‘T’ buildings will be repaired by next week and all debris will be removed.
What information is needed to move forward? There are currently no pending obstacles to be reported.
Parent Child Study Center
Johnny Booth - Booth Architects and Dan Arrowood with HKS reported the 95% drawings will be issued by May 30, 2008. The site plan drawings have been submitted to the City of Mesquite for review, they expect to receive feedback by Friday, 5/16/08. The bid closing date is scheduled for Friday, June 20, 2008.
Dr. Lindle Grigsby reported that the Parent Child Study Center name has been changed to Center for Parent and Child Studies.
Pleasant Grove Campus
Niki Watts, DCCCD Project Manager reported the acceptance letter for A & P was sent out on April 30, 2008. The revised construction drawings were submitted on May 15, 2008.
The plat review has been submitted, we are waiting for the grading plan.
What information is needed to move forward? No additional information is needed at this point.
Workforce / Criminal Justice Facility
Susan Hansen reported on behalf of Halff Associates in their absence. 95% construction drawings are due on May 20, 2008. Bid date for sub contractors is scheduled for June 12, 2008. They anticipate construction for the Workforce/Criminal Justice Facility will began Tuesday, July 8, 2008.
What information is needed to move forward? No information reported to move forward.
Technology “T” Building Expansion
Michael Johnson with Johnson McKibben Architectural firm reported they have completed and submitted the design and development drawing package. They have scheduled a meeting for Friday, 5/16/08 to review changes and pricing.
Comments from the faculty regarding the Technology ‘T’ Building Expansion will be submitted to Dr. Lindle Grigsby sometime this week and delivered to the bond office. Faculty participation has resulted in good feedback.
Utility and Infrastructure Update
Susan Hansen reported on behalf of Dave Littleton in his absence. They have received all bid proposals and are currently below budget. A preconstruction meeting will be scheduled with the City of Mesquite on next week. They will send a PDF to Eastfield College regarding traffic detours.
A question was asked if everything was ready to go on the communication lines. Susan Hansen reported work is still being done. Dr. Lindle Grigsby said they expect to lay communication lines with the new infrastructure trench that will be dug across the East side of the campus.
What is needed to move forward? No additional information at this time.
Perimeter Road
Art Sykes reported on behalf of Cristina Criado with Criado & Associates in her absence. Construction will begin September 2008.
Gerald Kozlowski asked if Cristina Criado could provide an update using display visuals from the discussions at last months meeting. Cristina Criado will have the visuals at the June 4, 2008 meeting.
Adaptive Remodel
Dr. Lindle Grigsby and Art Sykes will be meeting at the bond offices on Thursday, May 8, 2008 to interview potential contractors.
The City of Mesquite building code requires that the Eastfield College Campus ‘C’ building meet asbestos regulations as defined by city code. There will be a walk through of ‘C’ building to identify areas that will need to be addressed in the remodeling phase to meet city of Mesquite fire codes.
Dr. Lindle Grigsby reported that the Social Science and the Art/Language & Literature Division offices will be moving to the learning studios building.
Parking Expansion
Susan Hansen reported they have advertised for a consultant to work on the parking expansion plans. They have identified additional parking spaces near the ‘N’ building and will review budget allocations to determine adequate funding.
Furniture Team Visits
Jack Thiehoff reported that Eastfield College has received bids from furniture vendors Herman Miller and Steel Case for the Learning Studios building. Jack said a selection will be made by next week and both are district approved contract vendors.
Dr. Lindle Grigsby reported Eastfield College used rooms C122, C214, and C219 as the prototype.
John Criswell reported that Lucinda Gonzales has finalized the specified needs for media equipment. They anticipate presenting a tentative budget for funding by next week.
