Welcome and Introductions
The Construction Team council convened on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at 9:00a.m. Dr. Lindle Grigsby welcomed the members. Dr. Darrell Cain was introduced as the new Eastfield College Vice-President of Learning, Javier Olguin was introduced as the Executive Director of the Pleasant Grove Campus and Claire Gauntlett is serving as the Executive Dean, College & Community Resource Development.
Learning Studios
Dustin Moore with Roger-Obrien reported the water line and storm drainage sewer system has been installed. The sky bridge slab will be poured next week, and the fire sprinkler system will be installed the week of June 2, 2008. Susan Hansen reported that completion of the dry wall is contingent upon the water lines being installed by July 1st.
The interior and furniture selections have been made, i.e. classroom chairs, and tables. Jack Thiehoff will present a cost analysis of the furnishing to Dr. Carol Brown and Dr. Lindle Grigsby for review. The vendor has identified a potential problem with the booths being too narrow, therefore Dan Arrowood recommended that chairs and tables be used.
What information is needed to move forward? Will need feedback on decision regarding
sky bridge.
Center for Child and Parent Studies
Johnny Booth - Booth Architects and Dan Arrowood with HKS reported the site plans have been submitted for review, and the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) will be issued on Friday, June 6, 2008. The pre-bid date is Thursday, June 19th and the opening bid date is scheduled for Thursday, June 26, 2008. The anticipated groundbreaking is scheduled for the end of July or early August 2008.
What information is needed to move forward? Need to select paper good dispensers. Dr. Lindle Grigsby asked if there are any external water taps. Johnnie Booth responded “yes”.
Pleasant Grove Campus
Brad Napier, with Adolfson & Peterson reported the site prep work, i.e. silt fencing and utilities to the construction trailer are being established. They expect “grading” to begin on Monday, June 9, 2008. Utility contractor will begin Thursday, June 12, 2008 as well as work on the detention ponds.
Niki Watts will put together a notebook for Javier Olguin with information concerning the project and the construction schedule for the Pleasant Grove building. They will collaborate and develop a communication tool to disseminate information about the building project to the community and campus.
What information is needed to move forward? No additional information is needed at this time.
Workforce / Criminal Justice Facility
Halff Associates reported 95% construction drawings are in-house for review. These drawings can be viewed in L215B or M115. Pre-bidding will begin on June 5, 2008, and the bid date is June 12th. The groundbreaking is scheduled for mid July 2008.
What information is needed to move forward? Need to schedule a meeting to discuss forensic lab details.
Technology “T” Building Expansion
Michael Johnson with Johnson McKibben Architectural firm reported 50% construction drawings have been completed. The target date for 95% construction drawings is June 15, 2008.
Specific locations will be identified throughout the ‘T’ building for security surveillance monitoring.
What information is needed to move forward? No additional information is needed at this time.
Utility and Infrastructure Update
Dave Littleton with Halff Associates reported that the gas and communication plan and specification preparation are under way. The16-inch water line and 10-inch sewer line are being constructed. The water line plans have been submitted to the City of Mesquite.
The detention basin plans have been approved by the City of Mesquite. The NOI was provided by AP. The Grading Plan for utility infrastructure trench spoils is being prepared.

Adaptive Remodel
Dr. Lindle Grigsby reported the contractor and redesign architect has been selected. A list will be generated this week with an array of prioritized items. Plans are being reviewed for the remolding of the existing Child Development facility.
Parking Expansion
Susan Hansen reported they will need to reevaluate parking availability of approximately 150 to 200 parking spaces to be located near the Workforce/Criminal Justice and Center for Child & Parent Studies buildings. More information will be provided at the July 9, 2008 construction team meeting.
Furniture Team Visits
Jack Thiehoff reported there are no changes since last months meeting.
Open Discussion
Dr. Lindle Grigsby reported multiple construction projects will begin at Eastfield College in the coming weeks. The following plan of action will be taken:
