Welcome and Introductions
The Construction Team council convened on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at 8:50a.m. Dr. Lindle Grigsby welcomed the members. Mr. Lynn Hake with GFF was introduced as a new member of the construction team.
Learning Center
Dustin Moore with Rogers-O’Brien reported paving has begun and the finishing plaster on the sky bridge will be complete soon. Tape and bedding is now complete and air conditioning testing will begin this morning. Additional information:
Dr. Carol Brown asked time-line for the completion of the landscaping? Dustin Moore reported the landscape architect will provided additional information at the next construction meeting.
Tours for the Learning Center building will be rescheduled for mid November 2008.

Center for Child and Family Studies
Johnny Booth - Booth Architects and Dan Arrowood with HKS reported they expect to receive final approval from the City of Mesquite for the Center for Child and Family Studies building. The site work has begun. The plumbing and storm line on the north side is being installed. They do not anticipate any problems.

Pleasant Grove Campus
Brad Napier with Adolfson & Peterson reported that the steel girders will be erected in approximately one week. 85% of paving has been poured – mostly done with concrete. Work on fire lanes has begun and will be complete soon. The last section of the foundation will be poured this week.
What information is needed to move forward? No additional information is needed at this time.
Workforce / Criminal Justice Facility
Halff Associates reported they are in the process of drilling the piers and should be done by next week. Location of fire lines will be identified next week and foundation work is expected to start in approximately two weeks. The building permit has been approved by the City of Mesquite.

Technology “T” Building Expansion
Michael Johnson with Johnson McKibben Architectural firm reported they are still in the “bidding phase” and expect analysis of bidding by next month. They have submitted the required documentation to the City of Mesquite; the building permit is in process. No pending obstacles at this time.
Michael Johnson reported dialogue with ONCOR continues as they plan for a shared system for the HVAC and utility poles to work in conjunction with the “T” building and Workforce/Criminal Justice Building.

Utility and Infrastructure Update
Brad Napier with Adolfson & Peterson reported re-paving is currently underway. The water line connection and/or tie end is scheduled for Saturday, 10/11/08. Anticipated completion date for all water and communication lines is 11/22/08. The water connections will necessitate the closure of some buildings during weekends to make the connections.

Perimeter Road
Dr. Lindle Grigsby reported in the absence of Criado & Associates the following:

Adaptive Remodel
Nikki Watts, DCCCD Project Manager introduced Mr. Servando Morales with Pecos Construction. Mr. Lynn Hake of GFF Architects stated the CAD Base Plan for “N” building is being developed. They have identified several impediments which will be discussed at the meeting scheduled for 10/15/08, 1:30p.m., room M-100 Eastfield College. Nikki Watts said they will attempt to stay within the 1979 fire code and the original building code guidelines.
Parking Expansion
Allen Terrell reported documents will be submitted to the City of Mesquite after they receive approval from the city on the Center for Child and Parent Studies building.

Furniture Team Visits
Dr. Lindle Grigsby reported on behalf of Jack Thiehoff in his absence. All bids are complete and the requisitions have been processed for the furniture and technology for the Learning Center Building.
Art Sykes reported they have begun to receive furniture for the Learning Center building, the furniture is temporarily being stored at a designated location.
