Welcome and Introductions
The Construction Team council convened on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at 9:00a.m. Dr. Lindle Grigsby welcomed the members.
Learning Center
Dustin Moore with Rogers-O’Brien reported the mechanical contractors are on schedule, and the fire lanes are being constructed. The light fixtures have arrived and are being installed. Tile installation has begun on the second floor. Irrigation system is being installed.
Dr. Lindle Grigsby reported that he and Dr. Carol Brown attended the Rotary of Mesquite meeting on Tuesday, 11/4/08. They shared a presentation of the new Learning Center Building – emphasizing the unique attributes that this facility will offer.
A grand opening of the Learning Center Building will be coordinated with HKS and is tentatively planned during spring 2009 after classes have begun. The scheduled move in date is December 1, 2008.

Center for Child and Family Studies
Dustin Moore with Rogers-O’Brien reported they are in the process of drilling the last pier. They anticipate all piers will be complete by next week. The majority of the site utilities work is complete, i.e. the water lines and storm drainage sewer system.
All permits have been approved and received. Grading for the drives and parking areas has
begun. Dustin Moore will submit a schedule of target construction dates to Dr. Lindle Grigsby
for review.

Pleasant Grove Campus
Brad Napier with Adolfson & Peterson reported approximately 50% of the steel girders have been erected, the south portion is complete. All site- paving work is now finished except the entry drives off of Buckner Boulevard.
Dr. Lindle Grigsby reported the Pleasant Grove Campus will consist of blended positions with service departments to include business office; financial aid office and student advising. A meeting with the EFC current department supervisors in these areas is tentatively scheduled for 12/1/08.
The furniture drawings from the architect should arrive with in the next few weeks.

Brad Napier with Adolfson & Peterson reported that building piers are now being completed after confronting drilling difficulties with 5 -6 piers. They anticipate the grade beams will be complete by 11/10/08 and the steel girders should arrive by 12/9/08.
Technology “T” Building Expansion
Michael Johnson with Johnson McKibben Architectural firm reported they have received approval from the City of Mesquite on the “Amendment”. The City of Mesquite is preparing the building permit which should be complete by Monday, 11/10/08.
Jim Starling with Starling Richardson reported the “switch gear” should arrive in approximately two to three months.
Additional meetings will be scheduled to expedite the beginning of the construction. Lindle Grigsby reminded Jim Starling that the interior hall involving 2 classrooms will have to be done during the holiday break between the end of classes in December and the beginning of the spring semester in January.

Utility and Infrastructure Update
Brad Napier with Adolfson & Peterson reported all water line connections and tie-ends are complete. All of the infrastructure work has been completed and the punch list walk will be conducted within the next few weeks. Parking lots will be stripped in the next several weeks
this will probably result in some traffic detours. The striping will probably be done at night.

Perimeter Road
Cristina Criado with Criado & Associates reported phase I construction is now phase III. The new LaPrada Drive entrance and the west portion of the drive will be phase I. These plans are being finalized.
Advertised bids will be submitted on 11/17 and 11/24/08.

Adaptive Remodel
Nikki Watts, DCCCD Project Manager reported the following:
Dr. Lindle Grigsby suggested scheduling meeting with user groups on next week. All dates are opened except Thursday, 11/13/0/8.
Parking Expansion
Dave Littleton with Halff Associates reported plans and specifications are needed for the Workforce / Criminal Justice Facility. The new parking lot design is being completed and will be submitted to the city for comment and approval.

Furniture Team Visits
Jack Thiehoff reported all the communication lines for the Learning Center building are now complete, and media equipment has arrived. All office furniture will be moved in the Learning Center building beginning 12/1/08. Dr. Lindle Grigsby commented that additional seating and lounge furniture will be placed in the passage way.
