Eastfield College Continuing Education Classes

(Mesquite, TX) – Eastfield College Swim class for Waterbabies (age 6 months – 4 years) & parents start on May 17. Choose from classes that start at 11 a.m. or 4 p.m. Class meets Monday through Thursdays. This class lasts through June 5 (no class 5/26 Memorial Day; class will be made up on May 30). A parent must be in the heated pool with the child at all times; one adult per child.

Summer SWIM
We are offering three sessions of 3-week (12 course hours) of children and teen Learn to Swim sessions for Waterbabies through all 3 classes of Level 6 skills.
Session I: June 9 - June 26
Session II: June 30 - July 17
Session III: July 21 - August 8
Choose from one of the following times: 9, 10 or 11 a.m, 4, 5 or 6 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays. $75
Saturday Children's (age 7 and older) Learn to Swim classes are at 1 p.m., June 7 - July 26. $75
Saturday Adult Beginners and Advanced Learn to Swim classes are at 11 a.m., June 7-July 26. $75


The Eastfield Summer Arts Program Presents Selections from the musical “The Lion King;”
daily classes in acting, singing and dancing is open to ages 9 – 17. Class will be held Monday, June 16 – Saturday, June 21 from 1 – 4 p.m. Cost: $200. Course # DRAZ 1000 Sec # 40001. This performance will be open to public on Saturday, June 21 at 3 p.m. in Eastfield Performance Hall.

Summer Arts Program Faculty:
Mary Tiner, Soprano, Voice Instructor & Director of Choral Activities at Eastfield College, received her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in vocal performance from Southern Methodist University. She has performed throughout the United States, Canada and Austria. She was on the voice faculty at UTA for 6 years, and has also maintained a private voice studio since 1980. Her choral directing experience has included various adult and children’s choirs in the metroplex.

Kay-Lynn Lyon, Eastfield Dance Instructor, attended the University of North Texas where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Dance and Master of Science, Recreation and Dance. She served as UNT’s Dance Company’s Publicity Director and served on a professor search committee while attending UNT. Also, during her senior year at UNT, Kay-Lynn started her own dance school (Kay-Lynn’s Dance Academy) which continues to flourish today. Through her dance academy she has directed 30 summers of multiple dance camps to include Greenhill School and Hockaday School.

Courtney Carter, Speech Communication Faculty at Eastfield College, received her B.A. and M.A. in Communication Studies with an emphasis in Performance from the University of North Texas at Denton. She has taught Middle School Speech and Theatre Arts for Dallas I.S.D. and directed award-winning U.I.L. one-act plays. She received Theatre Education training during summer sessions at the Dallas Theatre Center that included directing, set design, improvisation and original scripting for students. Her experimental theatre background encourages students to become playwrights, assistant directors, set designers, prop masters and more for their own productions.


Eastfield College Home School Meetings
Eastfield parent/ student meeting and registration will be held Saturday, May 17 at 9 a.m. in C118. Meetings will also be held June 14, July 19, or August 23.

Parents need to come to one meeting that will take care of summer and fall 2008.
