(Dallas) - Members of the Dallas County Community College District's board of trustees approved the appointment of Dr. Jean Conway as president of Eastfield College in Mesquite, recommended by Dr. Wright Lassiter Jr., DCCCD's chancellor. Conway's presidency is effective June 8, 2011.
Before Dr. Conway was appointed to serve as interim president at Eastfield, Conway was vice president for teaching and learning and executive dean of world languages, cultures and communications at Richland College; and was an instructor at Brookhaven College. She has 17 years of community college administrative experience: two years as an interim president; six years as vice president for academic affairs; and nine years as an academic dean. Conway holds a doctorate in education/supervision, curriculum and instruction from Texas A&M University-Commerce; and a master's degree in English and a bachelor's degree in English/Spanish and psychology, both from the University of North Texas in Denton.
"I have enjoyed my role as interim president of Eastfield College, where I have had the privilege of getting to know students, faculty, and staff as together we initiated projects, established procedures, refined processes, and developed accountability measures," said Conway. "I believe my leadership style fits well with the culture here, and I look forward to continuing the projects and initiatives that have been put in place over the past two years and to implementing new initiatives that will take Eastfield to a higher level of service to students, employees, and our community."
