Eastfield College presents a Small Business Management program designed for small business owners as well as for those planning to start a business. This series of courses will take you through the steps required to explore, own or manage a small business. After completion of these courses students will receive a certificate of completion. Individual courses may be taken on a non-certificate basis.
Starting
a Small Business
Is entrepreneurship right for you? Learn how to get started or how to expand your existing business. Explore what it takes to be a small business owner and what to consider when selecting a type of business to start. Learn how to write a business plan for your small business. Learn the difference between proprietorship, partnership, and corporation.
Business Plan Preparation
Topics include how to develop a business plan for a small business start-up or expansion that can be submitted to a financial institution or used for implementation. Emphasis on importance of the plan, components, format, and considerations.
Marketing
Your Products and Services
Learn how to develop a marketing plan. Topics to be covered include demographics, product design, distribution, evaluating customer needs, e-commerce advertising techniques and pricing.
Financial
Management for Your Small Business
Learn how to use financial statements and financial management tools in your small business. Topics include basics of accounting and record keeping such as general ledger, journals, accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, billing, credit and
Customer
Service
This course emphasizes how to provide outstanding customer service. It addresses service models for internal and external customers, business ethics, tools and techniques for gathering customer feedback, handling complaints and high performance TEAM methods.
Business
Law
This course discusses legal aspects and guidelines of EEO laws, hiring and firing under the civil rights laws, and understanding the penalties for violating the laws. Learn techniques on how to recruit and train new employees.
