A: To check out materials, you must have ONE of the following:
A: All DCCCD books are listed on an Online Catalog. You can search for a book by title, subject, author, or keyword.. Remember that all of the DCCCD libraries are included in this catalog. If you cannot find a book on the shelf, please make sure it is an Eastfield Book (EF). To access the Library Online Catalog, please click HERE .
A: We allow a maximum of 10 items. Items may include books, ITV videos, 3-Day videos, CDs, CD-ROMs and Diskettes.
A: The length of time you may keep an item varies according to what you have checked out. The following is a list of items and length of check out periods. Towards the end of the semester, the student's expiration date serves as the due date.
A: Yes. You can renew each book one (1) time for another 3-week period unless a hold has been placed on that item or if that item is overdue. Instructions for renewing books.
A: Yes. 3-Day videos may be renewed one (1) time for another 3-day period unless that item is overdue. ITV videos may NOT be renewed.
A: Yes. A maximum of ten (10) books may be requested from the other DCCCD libraries. This is called Intercollege Loans (ICL). Instructions for requesting books.
A: We do have videos that accompany most of the telecourses. Instructional Television videos (ITV) are available for a 2-day check out with a maximum of 2 videos per patron. Videos cannot be renewed, nor can holds be placed on them. We also keep copies of these videos on Permanent Reserve at the Media/Reserves desk . These videos are available for in-library use only. Scripts of the telecourse videos are available online through the Library Catalog.We do not have videos that accompany the Distance Learning courses. A: No, we do not have textbooks for any class unless the Instructor has placed a copy on Reserve or has donated the textbook to the Library. Instructor's Reserves are located at the Media/Reserves desk.
A: Yes. Our computers are mainly for research purposes, but do have Microsoft Office installed on them. Papers can also be typed in the Computer Lab (L108). For assistance with writing papers visit the Writing Center (L200).
A: Yes. All of our computers have internet access. You may check your DCCCD student email through the DCCCD home page.
A: Yes, printing costs 10 cents per page. We use an online printing account system. The system accepts only paper money and DOES NOT give change. Money may be added at any time.
A: Yes. We have a small number of the TASP (THEA) study guides available for checkout.
A: All items placed on Reserve are located at the Media/Reserves desk. You need to know the course title and/or your Instructor’s name to look up the item. All Reserve items are listed in the Library Catalog by Instructor's name or course number.
A: A large number of articles may be located by using the Online Databases available from the DCCCD Library home page. For further assistance and for help choosing a database, please ask a Reference Librarian.
Eastfield College Library also retains some magazines for one year in print. For further assistance in locating articles and/or magazines, please ask a Reference Librarian.
A: A TexShare card is available in the Library to currently enrolled students, staff, and faculty. After you fill out an application, you will be issued a TexShare card for the duration of the semester in which you are enrolled.
