How to Renew Online

Library cardholders may renew their own materials online using the Classic Catalog.  All materials may be renewed, except for materials with reserves (holds) and materials that have been billed as damaged or lost.

  1. Select the materials you want to renew by checking the boxes in the RENEW column and then click the Renew Selected button. If you want to renew everything, click the Renew ALL button.
  2. If you cannot renew items, a message will appear on the screen. If you are successful, a new due date will appear in the "STATUS" column. Always check the STATUS column for information on the success or failure of your renewal.

How to Place a Hold on a Book

To place a HOLD on a book is to request a book that is checked out and have it reserved for the requestor when it is returned.  To place a hold on a book –

  1. From DCCCD Library home page, select Library Catalog
  2. Locate item needed
  3. Select the Request box on the top toolbar
  4. Type in Name, and Student ID.
  5. Choose pickup location
  6. Click Submit
  7. Choose item location if necessary
  8. Select Request Selected Item

How to Request an ICL (Intercollege Loan)

Intercollege Loan allows students, staff, and faculty to borrow books from other DCCCD libraries.  ICLs may be sent to any other campus or picked up at the Circulation Desk.  Only Main collection books may be requested; no Reference books may be loaned.  To request an ICL from another campus –

  1. From DCCCD Library home page, select Library Catalog
  2. On top toolbar, select Request
  3. Type Name, and Student ID.
  4. Choose pickup location
  5. Select Submit
  6. Choose item location if necessary
  7. Select Request Selected Item

Allow three (3) days for receipt of ICL materials if sent

How to Request an ILL (Interlibrary Loan)

Interlibrary Loan allows students, staff, and faculty to borrow books outside the DCCCD libraries. Before requesting any ILL item, please check the DCCCD Library Catalog. Please note that most ILL items may require up to six weeks for delivery. To request an ILL –

  1. From DCCCD Library home page, select Library Catalog
  2. Scroll to Borrow Items Not Owned by DCCCD
  3. Click on ILL (Interlibrary Loan) button
  4. Select type of material
  5. Enter as much information as possible in box
  6. Type Name, and Student/Employee ID.
  7. Select Submit This Request

·        Allow up to six (6) weeks for receipt of ILL materials.
