The same man caught masturbating to pornography on a school computer at 4 a.m. returned to the campus, violating a restraining order against him, and sexually propositioned a female student in the library.
Corrick Lakieth Brown passed a note reading, "I'm ready for whatever sweet thing," to the female student. After a complaint to the librarians they in turn called the campus police. When Lt. Ray Hill arrived on the scene and searched the back room of the library, Brown fled out the opposite door.
After a chase, Hill finally apprehended Brown near the La Prada exit.
"I already made the statement that he'd be back," Hill said. "He's not going to go away."
A library worker recognized Brown as he began fleeing, and so alerted Hill that it was Brown. Before knowing this, Hill couldn't pursue him, as he hadn't committed a crime.
Brown would have been recognized sooner, but once entering the library he went directly to the back, and escaped notice as he entered.
The library worker knew his face because after reading the story of his trespassing in the April 5 issue of the Et Cetera she had the feeling it was the same man who had been in the library several times before, harassing students.
Prompted by this feeling, she visited Hill, who showed her a picture of Brown. The picture matched the face of the man who had disturbed library patrons in the past.
"One time he was talking to the shelves," she said.
The language Brown used while speaking to the shelves was sexually explicit, and a female student close by was offended and reported him.
Urine in trashcans was found that the librarians believed to belong to Brown, and they found pornography on computers he was known to have been using.
"I know I've got to keep my eye on him," she said, because of this behavior.
Now Brown isn't allowed on campus at all, and so the next time the librarians spot him they can immediately call police.
Hill believes that will be necessary.
"He'll be back again," Hill said.
Hill would like for all students and staff to keep their eyes open for Brown and to alert the campus police if he is on campus. |
