What is the difference between honors courses and the Honors Program?
Currently, any student can enroll in an honors course at Eastfield. There are no restrictions, but it is recommended that a student have at least a 3.5 GPA. The Honors Program, however, is a program that involves taking honors courses, in addition to other activities. Membership into the program is based on an application. Eligibility requirements can be found on the Honors Program home page.
I am currently taking an honors course. Am I automatically enrolled in the Honors Program?
No. You must apply to the Honors Program. Applications can be found here (can you link to the application page?).
I am currently a member of PTK. Am I automatically enrolled in the Honors Program?
No. PTK is an honors society. Membership is by invitation only. Membership into the Honors Program is through a separate application. Since both organizations have similar eligibility requirements and complement one another, we encourage all eligible students to become members of both.
Is there a cost to join the Honors Program?
Are honors courses more difficult than regular courses?
Not exactly. They are different, not necessarily harder. Honors classes are smaller, and therefore you have more interaction with your instructor and your peers. You will experience a more engaged atmosphere and learn in different ways.
