- COURSE OBJECTIVES
- To continue the divers training where his Open Water Certificate
ended.
- To develop a diver who is confident, safe, relaxed, aware,
and more able to enjoy the underwater world.
- To safely supervise the Open Water Diver as he learns new
skills to allow him a greater freedom underwater.
- Confidence to dive to deeper depths
- Underwater Navigation
- Search and Recovery Techniques
- Boat Diving Techniques
- Peak Buoyancy Skills
- Ocean diving, currents, marine environment
- Night diving experience & Limited visibility Experience
- To allow students an opportunity for employment, a career, and
continuing education by acquiring a high level of certification.
- METHODS AND PROCEDURES OF TEACHING COURSE
- Active participation in pool and open water training dives
- Class discussion & Open Water debriefings

- SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- To complete all open water training dives and receive certification
as PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, student Amust@
attend scheduled field trips as planned, organized,
and agreed upon during the initial class discussions.
- Maintain a high level of fitness with a personal aerobic exercise
program 15 hours minimum.
- As part of the requirements for this class, I realize that I will
be participating in some unsupervised, off campus activities. I
agree to accept all responsibility for liability.

- ADDITIONAL EXPENSES
- Scuba lab fee $55.00 -if needed
- Travel expenses to lake
- Camping fee and park entrance
- Wet suit-seasonal, $10-20
- Fee for PADI certification card--$13.00
- EVALUATION:
To attain a grade of "A", Excellent, the student must meet the following
requirements:
- Successfully complete all open water training dives as outlined.
- Have all dives initialed by dive master and signed by instructor
after documentation in appropriate log book.
- Maintain a accurate Fitness Journal.
- Score in 80 % or better on the six review sections.
- Involvement in class discussion activities.
- Score an 80 % or better on the six review sections.
- Posses maturity of judgment, practice safe diving habits,
and take initiative to fulfill all course requirements.
- GRADING FACTORS:
- Dives # 1-5 50%
- Knowledge Review 20%
- Final Exam 20%
- Watermanship and stamina 10%
- WITHDRAWAL POLICY:
If you wish to drop this course for a grade of "w", note the final drop
date for the college and obtain and complete the proper form Withdrawing
from a course is a formal procedure which you must initiate. I cannot
do it for you. You may do this in Admissions or Counseling. If you stop
attending, you will receive a grade of usually an F.
Students sometimes drop courses when there is help available which would
enable them to continue. I hope you will discuss your plans with me
if you should feel the need to withdraw.
