The Children’s Laboratory School (CLS) at Eastfield College (EFC) is housed in the state-of-the-art Center for Child and Family Studies (CCFS) along with the Teacher Education and Child Development/ Early Childhood Education Departments. Our mission is to be the model of excellence in teaching, caring, and community building to support the educational needs of the college students. Together we work with our families to provide a child-centered, relationship-focused, caring, respectful, responsive and safe learning environment for our children, as well as for those who are being taught to care for and to teach young children.
Currently two programs function at the CLS: a full-time day program open to any applicants, which is nationally accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), and a part-time evening program for the children of Eastfield College students who are enrolled in evening classes. The day program is a full-time year-round program, Monday through Friday, open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., serving children from six weeks old through pre-kindergarten. Our evening program is open during Fall, Spring and Summer I Semesters, Monday through Thursday, open from 5:00 p.m. to 10 p.m., serving children from 21 months old through 12 years old.
As a state licensed program, we are accountable to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS). You are welcome to review our minimum standards at any time. At least one copy is always available in our lobby, or you may ask the director to see a copy, or you can access the minimum standards on their website: http://www.dfps.state.tx.us/Child_Care/Child_Care_Standards_and_Regulations
Copies of our most recent site review by the DFPS, NAEYC, as well as by the Mesquite Health Department, are also available in the lobby.
