On Saturday, April 21, 2007, the
Eastfield College Harvesters Basketball Booster Club
(HBBC), sponsored the first
ever sports awards banquet at Eastfield College.
This awards banquet was given to show appreciation
and support for the basketball program at Eastfield
College and was held on campus in room S100.
We were honored by our distinguished Eastfield College
guests, which included Dr. Carol Brown - President;
Dr. Joy Black - VP of Student Services, Judy Schwartz
- HBBC SPAR liaison, and Dr. Mark Presley - Dean of
Science & P.E.
When the evening began, guests arrived and walked
through the front entrance of the “S”
building to an awaiting crowd of paparazzi - snapping
pictures.
Attendees were treated to an Italian-style dinner
consisting of chicken alfredo, garlic buttered shrimp,
lasagna, and spaghetti, served with salad and garlic
bread while soft mellow jazz filled the room as it
echoed through the over-head ceiling speakers.
After dinner, each player received a Certificate
of Participation award and included:
Justin Arrington, Ramon Batiste, Johnny Bell Jr.,
Greg Boxell, Ryan Boyd, Obi Exedinma, Semar Farris,
Brian Giddings, Corderious Gosset, Cedric Johnson,
Terrance McCollister, Chris McGuire, Greg Morgan,
Phillip Payton, Seth Pearce, Wesley Roberson, Jeff
Williams, and Michael Wright.

The evening culminated with cake, punch, photos, and
dancing. The Harvesters Basketball Booster Club was
able to fund this special event through various fundraising
activities; selling concessions during all home games,
Valentine’s Day bake sales, and a day to “Take-a-Picture”
with your favorite player.
October 26, 2006, the HBBC held
(another Eastfield
first!) our version of “Harvester’s
Idol Contest”. The auditions were for Eastfield
College students, faculty, and staff members to be
selected to sing the National Anthem at each home
game. Cheerleaders, drill teams, and R.O.T.C.’s
from area high school were invited to perform during
half-time at each home game.
