I attended St. Edward’s University, a small private liberal arts university in Austin, and obtained a B.S. in Biology. After taking a semester off, I attended the University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC) in Fort Worth and obtained a M.S. in Medical Sciences. While I was at St. Edward’s, I was an active member and officer in many clubs (Academy of Science, Hispanic Student Association, Asian American Association, American Medical Student Association, Academic Society for the Advancement of Minorities in Medicine). At UNTHSC I was a member of the Graduate Student Association and the Medical Sciences Community Service Organization. Due to my extensive history with student organizations, I have a passion to support and encourage student involvement on campus.

We are biological beings: we perceive the world through our biological senses and we live our lives with our biological bodies. When we study biology we are learning much that is profound about our physical selves and how we fit into our magnificent and diverse biological world.
My goal is to incite as much interest if not outright enthusiasm and appreciation for the wonders of ‘life’ and living things on our planet. My intention is that my students will truly master a significant body of biology information as a solid foundation for further studies as they advance into fulfilling and rewarding careers. And in doing so these same students will be improving their own lives as balanced and educated citizens. May we never stop learning our whole lives!
