Tutoring Services

The Goal of TRiO/SSS tutoring is to aid student retention by:

• Helping students develop positive attitudes and confidence in their ability to learn.

Services to Students:

• The TRiO/SSS program offers tutoring in Math, Science, Developmental Writing, English Composition 1 and 2 and Spanish.
• TRIO/SSS maintains reference material such as textbooks, videos, and dictionaries.  Due to textbook changes each semester, TRIO/SSS is unable to maintain a collection of current texts.
• Special emphasis programs and workshops

Tutoring Procedures

• Students may begin requesting tutoring two weeks prior to classes starting and continue throughout the semester.
• Students must receive a referral from their TRIO/SSS Advisor. 
• Tutoring will only be offered for classes in which the student is currently enrolled.
• Students will receive the first available tutor in the specific subject area they are requesting.
• Students will receive one hour of regularly scheduled individual tutoring per week for each 3 credit hour course.
• In addition students may earn additional hours of tutoring through the voucher program.  Students must attend a TRIO/SSS event or sponsored event to receive a voucher. Students will only be allowed to redeem two vouchers per course.  Each voucher equates to one hour of tutoring.
