1. Where is the Office of Student Life?
We are located in Rm. C-141. We are next door to the Health Center and across the hallway from Campus Police. We are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday. On Friday’s we close at 4:00 p.m. We are not open on weekends.
2. What happened to SPAR?
The staff is still here! The Board of Trustees approved a name change from SPAR-Student Programs & Resources to the “Office of Student Life.” Most colleges and universities house their student activities, clubs & organizations, student government and other activities under this term. We felt it would make it easier for students to readily identify the services we provide, and also provide a smoother transition to the four year university.
3. How do I join a club?
There are several ways to join. One way is to contact the staff/faculty advisor listed on the webpage of our currently recognized student clubs and organizations. Or, you may choose to stop by the Office of Student Life and leave your contact information in the mailbox or mailboxes of the clubs you are interested in. Club leaders check their boxes weekly, so in no time at all you’ll be a full-fledged member! Some clubs charge dues; some do not. Most clubs meet at least twice a month, and many do community service and volunteer for student life events. We encourage you to get involved and participate as much as your time will allow. You’ll meet new people, learn new skills and have fun at the same time!
4. How do I find out about student life activities?
We promote our programs several different ways:
- Pick up a Student Handbook and Academic Calendar—our activities are listed there in the calendar section (note that some changes have occurred since going to print!)
- The Student Life webpage has a link to “upcoming events.”
- Pick up a monthly listing of activities in the Office of Student Life
- See our ads in the Et Cetera newspaper!
- Read the electronic message board in the Pit
- Flyers are placed on bulletin boards around campus
- We hang banners in the Pit

5. Who do I go to if I have a suggestion or complaint about an issue on campus?
Your SGA-Student Government Association handles student suggestions and complaints. Expressing your opinion has lead to improvements in various services on campus. A suggestion box is located in the Pit, or you can stop by the Office of Student Life and leave a handwritten suggestion. Students are also encouraged to attend open meetings of the SGA. (SGA does not get in involved in formal grievances or complaints involving academic or student code of conduct issues or violations.)
