Affectionately known as “CC” by students and other colleagues, the nickname derived from a soccer coach in 5th grade.  There were 2 soccer players named Courtney Carter and the coach decided to bestow the moniker of “CC” on Eastfield’s Courtney Carter.

CC has been teaching college-level Speech Communication courses for over 10 years (adjunct and full-time) and continues to deliver presentations at various meetings and workshops within and outside of the Dallas County Community College District.

Prior to teaching full-time for DCCCD, CC taught 8th grade Speech and Theatre Arts for O.W. Holmes Middle School and Humanities and Communications Academy of the Dallas Independent School District.

CC uses “out of the box” teaching strategies and in-class activities with abbreviated lectures to engage students and relate their classroom learning experiences to students’ personal and professional lives.
Institutional and Student Service includes: Eastfield Champion for New Faculty, District CORE 2009 Committee Eastfield Representative, Eastfield Faculty Association Secretary, Co-Chair of the Core Evaluation Steering Team and African American Students Club Mentor.

Received a B.A. and M.A. in Communication Studies from the University of North Texas in Denton and is working on a Ph.D. in Higher Education at the University of Texas at Arlington.

CC enjoys working out, cooking, painting abstract art, traveling to exotic beaches and attending music concerts or live music venues.

Others have described CC as fair, consistent, dependable, creative, resourceful, intuitive, fashionable, spontaneous, family-oriented and witty.
