Classically trained, Casey L. Carter has sung and performed roles from repertory companies to the main stage of The Dallas Opera, as well as dozens of tenor roles in oratorio and recital venues throughout the nation. A lyric tenor with great flexibility, he is at home singing Handel and Mozart yet diverse enough to regularly perform Britten while amazing audiences with his Humperdinck.
Mr. Carter is a doctoral candidate with HUC & Walden College in the Philosophy of Education: Curriculum, Instruction & Development program with a focus in Hebrew Pedagogy and Post-Colonial Jewish Studies. Casey holds a Masters Degree in Voice with honors from Texas Christian University, a Masters of Theological Studies in Hebrew and Jewish Studies from Brite Divinity School at TCU. He studied with acclaimed teachers Jeffrey Snider and Nancy Elledge and has performed under the direction of famed conductors Patrick Summers and Stephano Ranzani. Casey has the pleasure of regularly performing for acclaimed directors Candace Evans and Ralph Stannard.
Casey is well known for his tenor roles in oratorios by Bach, Handel, Mendelssohn and Schubert throughout North Texas and the southwest. A regular principal tenor with the Dallas Opera Chorus, he sang the world premier of Jake Heggie’s Moby Dick and the recent production of Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov. Carter brings to life the trusting and simple Candide of Bernstein’s work, a witty and comedic Kaspar in Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors, and a conniving and magical Witch in Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel.
Associate Professor of Voice at Collin College, and an Adjunct Professor of Voice at Eastfield College, Casey is also a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, Mr. Carter has students singing in major university programs throughout the United States and enjoyed a great tenure as a voice teacher at the acclaimed Booker T. Washington School of the Visual and Performing Arts in Dallas. He has been a regular clinician and instructor in vocal camps, summer programs, and is a trusted master of polishing an ensemble for performance whether for handbell festival, choral concert and the coaching of the musical ensemble for an operatic performance.
