Developmental English courses are designed to prepare Eastfield students for success in future composition courses as well as other college classes and disciplines. Through lecture, group studies, and individual projects, students learn to read critically and respond to varied texts with insightful, well-organized writing of their own. Students learn to recognize and write in several modes of discourse, building towards collegiate argumentation.
Coursework is done through a combination of traditional and technological formats. The skills and attitudes mastered in Developmental English strengthen language-based comprehension and performance as the foundation of effective, professional communication that will serve students through their academic careers and beyond.
