Course addresses reading and writing/English grammar skills required for passing the GED (General Educational Development)  Language Arts/Reading, Social Studies, Science, and Language Arts/Writing examinations and for preparation for jobs.  Wait to purchase books until after assessment.  Call 972-860-7113 to schedule pre-assessment before class starts.

The instructor will advise and guide students individually concerning the reading, writing, and math topics to review on their own between classes to prepare for the GED. Test-taking tips will be shared by a knowledgeable instructor, so students will have good test strategies and confidence.

WEGED: Math - GEDZ 1000  $85.00
This skills-based math course will help students who are preparing for the GED Mathematics test from basic math thru fractions and decimals. Students will also work with an instructor in a classroom setting  to review how each type of math problem is solved. Curriculum is based on students’ needs to prepare them for the GED Mathematics test.

Minimum age 17. Enroll and test anytime during the semester by appointment only. After registering, call Continuing Education at 972-860-7017 to schedule GED practice testing appointment(s). You will take 5 GED Practice tests. Testing center information will be given. Eastfield does NOT offer official GED examinations.

Standardized Test Preparation

Jump Start College Success - DLEZ 1000        $90.00
Prerequisites: Teens thru adult
Students who want to gain insight into specific reading skills and improve reading speed will benefit from this class. Practice will include suggestions for use of various types of textbooks, study skills such as note-taking, studying, research and writing, test questions including different types of essays, and test-taking techniques. Supplies needed are pen, pencils, highlighters, and note paper. Textbook required.

SAT/ACTMath Test Preparation - TESZ 1000 $150.00
Prerequisites: Minimum age 15 or high school sophomore status
This course will review specific test-taking strategies as well as the math fundamentals and competencies that are tested on  ACT and  SAT college entrance examinations. Emphasis will be placed on understanding and practicing actual math test problems to raise test scores. TEXTBOOKS :choose 1 book based on the test you are taking: ACTor SAT.

Emphasis will be placed on understanding and practicing actual reading and writing test problems to raise test scores.
