Charge for the Core Evaluation Committee

The Eastfield College (EFC) Core Evaluation Committee is charged with evaluating the core curricula.  In doing this, the committee should keep in mind the question, “What must students know and be able to do upon the completion of core curricula?” In addition, the committee is charged with the following:

  1. Ensure that individual members take a broad role in reviewing and evaluating the core curricula and that members not assume they represent any one discipline within the curriculum;

  2. Develop a process that includes both input and feedback from EFC community prior to making final recommendations.

  3. Ensure that EFC evaluate its core curriculum every ten years on the schedule that accords with the institution's accreditation reaffirmation self-study report to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.  Our next report due to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) is due April 1, 2010.

  4. Develop a timeline by which report will be submitted to the THECB.

  5. Develop processes and procedures used to evaluate the EFC’s core curriculum on a yearly basis.

  6. Develop description of the ways in which the evaluation results are being utilized to improve the core curriculum.

  7. Link EFC’s plan for evaluating student learning outcomes to the core curriculum evaluation process.
