The primary purpose for computer usage in the library is research and the completion of educational assignments. Eastfield Library users must adhere to the 2012-2013 Catalog Year Computer Use Policy, 2012-2013 Catalog Year Code of Student Conduct and Guidelines for Minors in the Library 2012-2013. *
* Minors are defined as anyone under the age of 18. Legal guardian is defined as any adult who is physically, legally, and financially responsible for the care of minors, and are solely responsible for the safety and behavior of minors.
Computers are primarily for research and educational purposes.
Eastfield students take priority over other users.
Students performing research in conjunction with a class assignment take precedence over other users. The users may be asked to relinquish their computers during times of high demand, if necessary.
Library computers may not be used for commercial purposes.
No mass e-mail mailings or sending SPAM is allowed.
According to the DCCCD 2012-2013 Computer Use Policy, viewing "obscenity, child pornography, and the use of harassment based upon race, ethnicity, national origin, disability, age, religion, or sex" is considered a criminal and illegal act and is prohibited.
Minors are prohibited from all computer areas, adjacent equipment and ASC Writing Center.
Adults accompanied by minors are prohibited from all computer areas, adjacent equipment, and ASC Writing Center.
Eastfield College Library upholds the principles of Intellectual Freedom, and supports college curricula for adult users by providing unfiltered internet access. The parent or legal guardian is solely responsible for the intentional or inadvertent viewing of such resources by their minor(s).
Downloading to an external drive is allowed on all computers. Downloading to the hard drive is not allowed.
Pay for Print is availalble at the cost of 10 cents per page. Users must allow time for print jobs to be completed ten minutes before closing.
Computers are turned off ten minutes before closing.
Library computer usage must be in complete compliance with state and federal laws. Violators may be subject to legal, disciplinary, or other appropriate action. The computers may not be used for commercial purposes. Library users are asked to avoid viewing materials that might reasonably be considered objectionable by others.Viewing of pornographic materials may be grounds for sexual harassment charges by other users. Misuse of the Library Computers will result in termination of privileges.
