BOOK
AND PERIODICAL ACQUISITION REQUESTS
Student
suggestions for library materials may be written in
the Suggestion/Complaint notebook at the Circulation
Desk. Faculty suggestions may be submitted to the
Director of Library Services or any of the Reference
staff in writing or via e-mail or web
form. All materials must comply
with the DCCCD
Materials Selection Policy.

CASSETTE
TAPE PLAYERS FOR IN-LIBRARY USE
Cassette
tape players are available for in-Library use with the
audio-tapes on Reserve.
Cassette tape players are located in the Media/Reserves
area of the Library.

COPY
MACHINES
Self-service
photocopiers are available for students, staff, and the
public. Copies cost 5 cents per page.
Accounts must be set up prior to use. A $1.00 bill must
be added to activate the account.

DVD
PLAYERS
DVD
players are available for in-Library use with campus
owned materials.
DVD players are located in the Media/Reserves area of
the Library.

EBOOKS
eBooks
are
available to all currently enrolled students, staff,
and faculty through an electronic online full-text delivery system
. Patrons
must create an account via the Library computers
prior to first time use.
Remote access is available after the initial
registration process through DCCCD Online Databases
and NetLibrary.

FAX
MACHINE
A
free fax machine is available for public use to the
right of the Library entrance. The fax machine is
maintained by SPAR (Student Programs and Resources).
Faxes may be sent only to the 972 and 214 area
codes. No incoming faxes may be received nor can
confirmation notices be printed.

GROUP
STUDY ROOMS
Group
Study rooms are provided for currently enrolled
Eastfield students wishing to study privately in
small groups of 2 to 10. Proof of registration may
be required. Rooms may be reserved in advance via
telephone or in person at the Circulation Desk.
Users must comply with the Guidelines
for Group Study Rooms.

HOLD
SERVICE FOR BOOKS
Holds
may be placed on a circulating item when that item
is charged to another patron. Holds may be placed
electronically online. At the bibliographic screen
of the book needed, click Request on the top
toolbar. Fill in name, student ID, and PIN (month,
day, and year of birth). Choose home campus for
pick-up location. Click Submit at bottom of screen.
Notification is made by telephone or by mail when
the item is available. Items are held for one week
after notification.

INSTRUCTIONAL
TELEVISION (ITV) COURSE VIDEOS/DVDS
Copies
of the ITV videos on Permanent Reserve at the
Media/Reserves desk are available for in-Library use
only. A number of ITV videos/DVDs are available for
a two day check out with a maximum of two videos per
person. Videos cannot be renewed nor can holds be
placed on them. Students enrolled in Telecourses may
check out semester videos/DVDs after Orientation. A paid
fee receipt and ID
must be presented before the semester videos/DVDs
may be checked out.

INTERCAMPUS
LOANS (ICLS)
Circulating
materials or copies of magazine articles available
at other DCCCD libraries maybe obtained through the
Request function of the Library Online Catalog.
Requested items are usually received within a week.

INTERLIBRARY
LOAN (ILLS)
Circulating
materials or copies of magazine articles available
at libraries outside the DCCCD may be obtained
through the Interlibrary Loan function of the
Library Online Catalog. The user's name and ID are
required. Requested items are usually received
within six weeks. For more information, please see
the Guidelines
for Interlibrary/Intercampus Loans.

INTERNET
ACCESS
Internet
is accessible through the Library computers.
Eastfield College students are given priority.
Computers are primarily for research purposes. The
Library computers offer unfiltered Internet access.
Children under the age of seventeen must be
accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and must
remain with that adult while using the computers.

LIBRARY
EXHIBITS
Eastfield
College Library offers a wide variety of
informative, educational, and entertaining exhibits
during the Fall and Spring semesters. For more
information, call (972)860-7174.

MAGAZINES,
JOURNALS, AND NEWSPAPERS
All
periodicals must be used in the Library and may not
be checked out. An Eastfield College ID, other DCCCD
ID, or picture ID is required to request back issues
from the Reference Desk. Periodicals are retained
for at least one year in print. Some titles are
available on microfiche or microfilm.

ONLINE
DATABASES
A
wide variety of online databases are available through
the DCCCD
Library website by choosing
Online Databases/Find Articles. Online databases may be
accessed in the Library or any remote location.

OVERDUE
MATERIALS
Materials
that are overdue may not be renewed or placed on hold
online or by telephone.
Patrons must come in person to the Circulation Desk to
clear overdue materials.

PATRON
KIOSK
A
Patron Kiosk is used to create accounts, add value,
and check on accounts for printing and copying
purposes. Students and non-students may use the
Patron Kiosk. The Patron Kiosk is located adjacent
to the Circulation Desk near the entrance. $1.00
bill must be added to activate an account. Please
see a Librarian for assistance.

PRINTERS
Printers
are available for students, staff, and the public
for printing from the Internet, Library Catalog,
Online Databases, or Eastfield College Library web
site at a cost of 5 cents per page. An account must

bill must be added to activate an account. Please

ASSISTANCE
Request
for Reference Assistance must be made in person at the
Reference Desk. The
Reference Librarians answer questions concerning the
Library Catalog, Online Databases, and Internet
searching. For assistance ask
a librarian.
REFUNDS
Eastfield
College Library is unable to give refunds for any
printing or copying error.
Please see a Reference Librarian for assistance with any
printing or copying problems.

REMOTE
ACCESS
Remote
access of the Library Catalog, Online Databases, and
Eastfield College Library web site is available
via the DCCCD
Library or the Eastfield
College Library home page.
RENEWALS
Checked
out materials may be renewed online via the Library
Catalog by choosing Check Your Record. Type in name
and Student ID. Patrons may renew all or selected
items. Renewals may be made by telephone or in
person as well. Renewals are not allowed if material
is Overdue
or On
Hold.

RESERVE
COLLECTION
All
print and non-print Reserve materials are located at
the Media/Reserves Desk and are for in-Library use
only. Reserve materials include THEA (TASP) books
and modules, copies of Instructor's notes,
textbooks, assigned articles, tests, anatomy models,
videos, DVDs, and audio tapes. An Eastfield ID,
other DCCCD ID, or picture ID is required to use the
Reserve materials.

TEXSHARE
TexShare
is a cooperative program through the State of Texas
that provides direct access and limited borrowing
privileges to TexShare card holders at member
libraries. TexShare is available to DCCCD students
currently enrolled in credit courses, and all DCCCD
staff and faculty. Application for a TexShare card
must be made through the home campus. Students and
staff at Eastfield may apply in person at the
Circulation or Reference Desk. An Eastfield College
ID or picture ID is required. For more information,
