Civil rights hero Rosa Parks dies
Eastfield looks back on black activist's legacy

Rosa Parks, the beginning of the ending of segregation, died at the age of 92 at her home in Detroit. Known as the "Mother of The Civil Rights Movement," she is remembered most for refusing to give up her seat on a bus to a white person. (more)

College Presidents' Search
After presidential search, four final candidates set to interview on campus

Eastfield will soon have a new full-time president since the resignation of Dr. Rodger Pool in the spring of 2005. (more)

Handicapped Education
Empathy event educates one student, teaches new respect for challenges of wheelchair bound

Disability Awareness Day, put on by SPAR and the Disability Support Group, educated students about the problems physically handicapped people face. (more)

Special Services
Handicapped students get a voice on campus
Disability Service provides special on-campus aid to those in need

The Disability Service's main concern is providing access to all the educational programs. "We give specific accommodations to qualified students so that they can function in a class room," said Bobbi White, director of disability services and trio director. (more)

It is getting to the point when it comes to Hollywood remaking old films that I no longer see the new versions as "curiosity pieces" the way I once did. (more)

UFO seminar draws skeptics

Eastfield College presented "UFOs: The Hidden Story," a lecture by Robert Hastings. This lecture was regarding theU.S. Government cover up of sightings of Unidentified Flying Objects. The government documents showed during the lecture were obtained by researchers through the Freedom of Information Act. (more)
