Lassiter
made chancellor - (6/13)
by Irasema Romero, Reporter
The DCCCD board of trustees today unanimously
appointed Dr. Wright Lassiter, former president
of El Centro College, as Chancellor of the district.
He was appointed as interim Chancellor after
the resignation of Dr. Jesus Carreon in May.
“Whenever the governing body of an organization,
be it a college, corporation, non-profit organization,
or any level of government, determines that
it has competent leaders already in the organization,
that is a plus and it speaks well for the organization,”
said Lassiter. “I am honored to
be in such a position.”
Lassiter’s appointment as chancellor
begins immediately and he looks forward to the
task.
“Serving as chancellor will be challenging,
and I welcome the collaboration and support
of my colleagues at each of the district’s
seven colleges – Brookhaven, Cedar Valley,
Eastfield, El Centro, Mountain View, North Lake
and Richland – as we move forward with
the business of educating more than 63,000 students,”
said Lassiter.
According to Jerry Prater, board of trustee’s
chair, they are proud of Lassiter and pleased
of his appointment.
“Dr. Lassiter brings years of top administrative
experience to this task, and we know that he
is a respected member of the Dallas community,”
said Prater.
“We look forward to working with Dr.
Lassiter and all members of the DCCCD family
as the district moves forward with its academic
and business efforts, bond construction program
and community outreach.”
Lassiter joined the district in 1986 to be
president of El Centro. He holds a doctorate
degree in education from Auburn University in
Alabama. |
