Texas Instruments - Kilby Imaging Lab Tour
March 2, 2007

Kilby Imaging Lab Tour Field TripFred Clark hosted a lab tour for six Science Club students and three Eastfield faculty/staff.

The Kilby Imaging Lab produces digital images of small technological devices (for example a microchip from a cell phone), for materials analysis (so the engineers who sent in the particular specimen can then use the images to figure out how to improve the manufacturing process).

They showed us equipment for techniques including Scanning Electron Microscopy, Transmission Electron Microscopy, and Focused Ion Beam technology.

Students were fascinated to see this unique work environment, and everyone felt honored to be allowed into a high security facility.
