Eligibility for Services

Students with a diagnosed disability who are enrolled at Eastfield College may be eligible for services through the Disability Services Office.
                        
Providing appropriate documentation of a disability and/or the need for access services to the Disability Services Office (DSO) is the responsibility of the student. Official reports documenting a disability must originate with an appropriate professional in the field. The documentation should be recent enough to reflect the student’s current status.   In most cases, documentation should reflect an evaluation that has been done in the past three to five years.

Classroom accommodations are determined each semester based on course content and the need for services.   Documentation must be submitted in a timely manner in order to receive services.  Students should submit documentation of the need for accommodations at least one month prior to the start of the semester in which they are enrolling
Additionally, prospective students may request accommodations for the college placement test through the Disability Services Office. 
Documentation is evaluated by a review committee in order to recommend appropriate services and accommodations best suited to each individual student.  Documentation submitted to the DSO is confidential and used solely for the purpose of identifying and coordinating appropriate accommodations to allow students full access to educational opportunities at Eastfield College.
