TSI Assessment FAQs

What is the TSI Assessment?

The TSI Assessment is placement testing to help determine if you are ready for college-level course work in reading, writing, and mathematics.  If you are an incoming college student in Texas, you are required to take the TSI Assessment unless you are exempt.

How do I know what TSI Assessment test to take?

This is determined by Admissions (C-119) OR Advisement (C-120).

When are the TSI Assessment tests given?

The TSI Assessment is available on a walk-in basis: Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Bring a photo ID and your referral form you received from Admissions (C119) OR Advisement (C120).

What is the cost for the TSI Assessment tests?

No charge for the first time. There is a $10.00 re-test fee per section to re-take the TSI Assessment tests.

When will I receive my test scores?

TSI Assessment scores are uploaded to your eConnect account within about 30 minutes after completion of your test session.

If I do not pass the TSI Assessment tests, can I still go to college?

Yes, the TSI Assessment testing is used to determine whether or not students will need extra help (such as tutoring or developmental math, reading or writing courses) before they enroll in higher level courses.

What is the Accuplacer ESL Test?

The Accuplacer ESL Test is a test given to all students who wish to enroll in English for Speakers of Other Languages for credit classes.

When is the Accuplacer ESL Test given?

The Accuplacer ESL Test is available on a walk-in basis: Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Bring a photo ID and your referral form you received from the ELLA Office.

What is the Future Test?

The Future Test is the test given to all students who wish to enroll in English as a Second Language for Continuing Education classes.

When is the Future Test given?

The Future Test is available on a walk-in basis: Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Bring a photo ID and your referral form you received from the ELLA Office.

What are the hours of operation for the Testing Center?

The Testing Center is open for testing between the hours of 8 a.m. and 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Friday.

What will I need to bring to take the TSI Assessment, Accuplacer ESL, or Future tests?

Have a picture ID (driver’s license, DPS ID, school ID, etc.) and your testing referral.
