The annual Sustainability Summit is the flagship event for Sustainable DCCCD. Each Summit brings together faculty, staff, students and community partners.

For more than 50 years the Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD) has helped identify and deliver solutions to real-life challenges faced by individuals, employers and the community. Our goal is to build a healthy and sustainable future for Dallas County and its citizens.


DCCCD is committed to becoming an environmental leader within the community by continually advocating  the responsible use of natural, financial and human resources through mindful education and action.

DCCCD Sustainable Activities (Not limited to the following)

  • All colleges and DCCCD facilities participate in a recycling program
  • 10% of the electricity used by DCCCD come from renewable energy and we’re working towards 100%
  • Systemwide upgrade to more energy efficient lamps, and beginning transition to LED lighting

  • Cedar Valley College: 2016 winner of the Green Genome and the Sustainability Achievement Award; Experiential learning opportunities

  • Mountain View College: Earned Tree Campus USA in 2016 and Aquaponics lab with three closed loop systems
  • North Lake College: Three USGBC-LEED Silver Level campus initiatives for energy efficiency
  • Richland College: 2016 Champions of Recycle-mania, LEED Platinum Architectural Portfolio

  • Social Media: Posting on all DCCCD Sustainability Social Media 75-words max
  • Engagement Opportunities: Ability to speak at the general sessions to all 300+ guests 1:30 minute max
