Dr. Joe Seabrooks (Cedar Valley College), Peter Aguirre (Greater Dallas Planning Council), Jerry White (Best South West Partnerhips), Maria Boccalandro (Sustainable Communities Institute)
The Sustainable Communities Institute of CVC has created a multi-stakeholder work structure to convene the main stakeholders and work collaboratively on a sustainable development plan for this region. CVC is training the green workforce, but the jobs are not in this region. The SCI is playing a role as a convener to create a comprehensive plan to leverage sustainable economic development of the region, preserving the natural environment and improving the quality of life of the surrounding communities, with the support of the main stakeholders that will help leverage private/public investment that is needed in infrastructure to attract businesses. This initiative ratifies CVC’s mission: A premier college transforming lives and communities. This session will present the different proposals that exist for the region and will engage the participants, in order to obtain their feedback and “buy-in” on the proposals to promote sustainable economic development for the region.
