AutoNation Video

AutoNation lists amongst its competitive advantages, the efficiency, accuracy, consistency, and controls the shared service environment brings to our organization.

Over the last several years, we've worked to develop our offerings and roll in all of our retail organizations into the shared service environment.

Our next big focus is continuous improvement.

We're working very hard to find opportunities to do what we do, both more efficiently and effectively to add to our value proposition within the organization.

We've partnered with Brookhaven College and the Dallas Community College system to help us with this continuous improvement effort both in the form of the Lean Six Sigma training, as well as tuition assistance program for our associates to advance their own educations.

And a lot of the fact finding that we've done though the Lean Six Sigma, you find that you don't know what you don't know.

And as we've dug deeper and deeper into our own metrics into our own analysis into our own information, we've learned about inefficiencies in areas where we have duplicated processes, we repeat things that we don't need to repeat.

Just because over time, you build your processes and you don't realize that you're doing something, more than once in multiple places.

So, we've found a lot of opportunities to become more efficient and redirect those resources, the people that were doing things multiple times, to enhancing the quality of the work that they do and the accuracy.

First of all the, the questions came up through Lean Six Sigma what data are out there and we didn't exactly know.

In some cases, it just caused us to ask for stuff we didn't know we even had.

It's amazing that, as I said, a little bit ago, you don't know what you don't know until you start digging.

And the Lean Six Sigma process has forced us to dig deeper into our own information than we've ever done before.
