About the Skills for Small Business Program

What’s Being Offered?

The Skills for Small Business (SSB) program provides training for small, private businesses in the local area. Participating business partners can select training courses for their new and/or existing employees that will contribute to the enhancement of their businesses’ operations.

The program covers tuition and fees for courses provided by the colleges of DCCCD, up to:

  • $1,450 for new employees and
  • $725 for existing employees

Why Is This Program Being Offered?

DCCCD was awarded a grant to fund “scholarships” to small businesses by the Texas Workforce Commission. The idea behind the program is to provide performance solutions that will assist small businesses to succeed — thus boosting the Texas economy.

Is My Business Eligible?

To participate in the SSB program, a business must:

  • Be a private business
  • Employ at least one and not more than 99 individuals companywide
  • Be financially stable
  • Be liable to pay unemployment insurance contributions to TWC and be in compliance with the reporting and payment requirements
