Jeff Mitchell earned his bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering technology from Texas A&M University-Commerce. Additionally, he has two associate degrees, one in auto body technology from Eastfield College and one in welding technology from Mountain View College.
He spent more than 20 years working within the auto body industry as a painter, metal technician, shop owner and auto body instructor. He began his teaching career in 1996 in Eastfield's Auto Body Collision Repair program and Mesquite ISD as an industrial technology metal shop instructor teaching welding, small engine repair and sheet metal fabrication.
He has been certified through the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence as a master collision technician and was an I-CAR certified welding test administrator for many years. His welding experience began as a young boy on his grandparent's farm and has continued throughout his life both in the welding industry and as was often required, as a collision repair technician until he began his teaching career.
Since the start of his teaching career, Jeff has always been helping others to develop their skills of welding. Today, his focus is solely on the Eastfield's Welding Technology program that he started in 2010. It continues to grow, with current levels of 40,000 contact hours or 300+ enrollments annually.
