Avril W. Knox, M.S.W., ACSW

Adjunct Faculty, Social Work

Avril Knox has been teaching Social Work courses at Eastfield since 2006. She holds a full-time position as the director of Refugee Services with Catholic Charities of Dallas.

Ms. Knox earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and a Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) degree, both from the Southern University at New Orleans in Louisiana. She is in pursuit of a Doctor of Social Work (D.S.W.) degree at Walden University, where she engages in research studies and advocacy projects implementing social and global change.  

Avril is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and holds special recognition in the Academy of Certified Social Workers; she is also a member of the Phi Alpha-Tau Sigma Chapter of the National Social Workers Honor Society. 

In her more than 20 years of working in social services, Ms. Knox has gained experience in various social service settings. Her professional experience includes more than 10 years in higher education; more than 20 years of administration, planning and organizing of social service programs; and more than 20 years of combined clinical expertise with children, youth and families, including domestic violence issues.
