June 22, 8 a.m.-12 p.m.
The annual Heroes Run 5K honors police, fire, EMT and military personnel for “choosing” to serve and dedicate their lives to being the first in and last out of any dangerous situation. A family event, the Heroes Run will offer activities to engage and educate participants about safety as well as honor first responders and military personnel while supporting DCCCD students who suffer from food insecurity issues. To help celebrate, please feel free to dress up as your favorite hero, whether it be Superman, or your favorite firefighter or military member, etc.
Participants can challenge themselves physically with the run, enjoy time with their families, and connect with the DCCCD community and partners. This event is also an opportunity for participants and first responders to build camaraderie in the spirit of community. First responders and military personnel will be able to share their experiences and provide information for safety first to the community. First responders and military personnel will also will receive special recognition for their participation in this event.
We have discounted registration until June 14, 2019 for just $25. After June 14, registration will increase to $35. Each registrant will receive a run t-shirt and a ticket. First responders, current military and veterans also will receive a commemorative gift.
You could pick up your registration packets on June 21 between 3-7pm in front of the C Building. You will also be able to pick up your registration packet the morning of the event between 6:30-8 a.m.
If you and your crew want to run as a team, we are setting up a team competition. Each team should have four members.
In addition to the fun of watching the race, we will have activities for the whole family.
Volunteer duties may include but are not limited to the following.
Volunteers will be expected to help clean-up, which will include taking down signage, picking up trash, cleaning up water stations and trash boxes, etc.

The proceeds from this event will fund food pantries at all seven DCCCD colleges. Each of the seven colleges have established systems to assist students and their families who suffer from food insecurity issues. Last year, the colleges gave out over 180,000 meals provided through support from events such as Heroes Run 2018 and the North Texas Food Bank. As a result, the colleges were able to make sure all students had access to nutritious food.
To partner with Eastfield College as a sponsor or exhibitor for the event please contact the Office of Resource Development at (972) 860-7396 or email Tricia Thomas-Anderson at email@example.com
